"With Hollywood and the media industries, the manufactured image has global exposure on an unprecedented scale and has greatly influenced the ways we think about ourselves. Through this constant confrontation with the image we have become well trained to see ourselves as strangers might; we are reminded of the importance of appearances, of 'The Look.'"

Andy Warhol's use of multi-colored layers inspired me to make this picture. Along with his layers, his portraits on himself and other people are also what made pop art very amusing. The models are just being used as some sort of advertisement that people seem to enjoy, which was what Warhol wanted. His work made viewers really think more about their appearance. In the Finkelstein book, it stated "Through this constant confrontation with the image we have become well trained to see ourselves as strangers might; we are reminded of the importance of appearances, of 'the look.'"
