What I believe this quote means is that when you take a photo, you are keeping a memory of something. You are taking photos to remember the events as they occurred. For example, when you have your birthday party, you take photos of yourself with family and friends so that you can remember what a great time you had at your party and how everyone made your day special. Photos are taken to create memories. It helps you remember the great times you had in your life.
