Post 1 Ehtisham Tariq
I based my selfie on one of the readings "The Photographed, Collaged, and Painted Muses of Mickalene Thomas." My selfie is based on Mickalene Thomas's artwork "Racquel Leaned Back" (2013). This painting is showing a woman leaning back on a couch (Dunne, 1). I used this painting to create my own selfie because I was truly inspired by it. It caught my attention and really made me begin to think more about the different types of art. It made me start to think about different types of art forms and ways art is explored.
Furthermore, as I was doing the reading and watching the videos, I learned much about Cindy Sherman. I especially loved the video Cindy Sherman, Nobody is Here But Me, 1994. What really caught my attention in the video was the beginning. I loved how Cindy Sherman was talking to the camera with her hands (Sherman, 2012). This was very unique.
Lastly, this selfie reminds me of music. When I look at this selfie, I think of Jazz. This is because I believe Jazz is very relaxing to listen to. Jazz is very laid back. When I took my selfie, I was also very relaxed.
In conclusion, the readings and videos have made me think more about art. It made me think about how art is formed. It made me think outside of the box. I got to learn about the different types of art by different artists which really expanded my knowledge on art. I am truly inspired.
