Leslie 2

To me, photography was always pictures used for memories, or special occasions; a quick view and nothing more. To Sonotag and Sherman, however, photography intercepts the surface dimensional of images. In other words, photographs carry feelings and stories, similar to how paintings portray scenes. Sonotag’s quote “...Photographs are as much an interpretation of the world as paintings and drawings are” accurately describes the value hidden in pictures. Similar to Sonotag’s quote, Sherman’s photos each have their own character, who can have their own story. One thing I learned from Cindy Sherman is her use to capture feelings in her paintings; so I tried to evoke certain settings into my picture that might provoke a sense.
